New Yorkers can visit the Whitney Museum by turning to NYC TV. Now through May 28th, the Whitney Museum is hosting its annual Biennial Exhibition—Day for Night. Titled after Francois Truffaut’s 1973 film, the show is a palpable and provocative look at today's contemporary art.
Join host Jennifer McAlwee as she examines contemporary art in America at a moment of profound global change. Rirkrit Tiravanija gives insight on his 50-foot tall recreation of Di Suvero’s Peace Tower, which stands in the Whitney’s courtyard. Both curators Chrissie Iles and Phillip Vergne discuss their feeling of arts impact on our world today.
We hear from Francesco Vezzoli, director of a hypothetical trailer for a non-existent re-make of Caligula.
We also speak with Ira Cohen, a photographer, artist and poet known for his Mylar Chamber room in the 1960’s. |
