Seat of Government: New York City
New York City throughout time has been a hotbed of political activity.  The nation’s first president, George Washington, was inaugurated in New York City in 1789.  The city was the first to roll out a government backed city planning grid adopted all over the world today, it was the first to adopt the subway system, and it was first to pass labor laws that affected the entire nation.  None of it would have been possible without the government that oversaw some of the most amazing public projects in the nation’s history, right here in New York City.
