NYC TV producers Harry Hunkele and Buboo Kakati reveal the behind-the-scenes secrets that go into the making of the hit television series “Secrets of New York.” Discover how the producers uncover these titillating, tantalizing and sometimes random unknowns of Gotham’s most exclusive, and often inaccessible, historic locations.

About Harry Hunkele


Harry Hunkele is the Emmy-winning producer/director of NYC TV’s nationally distributed television series Secrets of New York. Harry joined the show at the start of its second season and completely revamping the concept. The result has been a national success.  His work on the series reflects his love of New York City’s history and his appreciation of its architecture and infrastructure. In addition to producing and directing he also writes and edits the shows. And the first program of this new season was the Emmy award winning – Secrets of New York - Deep New York: How Low Can You Go in the Big Apple

Since joining the NYC TV team, Harry has created and produced a number of projects.  He originated the hit series $9.99, a program that shows viewers how to have a great time in New York for less than ten bucks a day. And he produced and directed the documentary series Blueprint | NYC. These Emmy Award winning programs offered viewers a virtual tour and history of some of New York City’s most renowned landmark structures. 

Harry has worked in film and video production since the early 1990s. Prior to his career with NYC TV, he worked on numerous commercials, music videos and features.  Harry is a graduate of The New School for Social Research and has a Master’s degree in sociology. He is the recipient of three New York Emmys and lives in Manhattan.

About Buboo Katati

Buboo Kakati is the Emmy-winning producer of “Secrets of New York,” a cutting-edge historical documentary series that airs on NYC TV and is distributed on PBS nationally.  The show has also appeared on NBC and is podcast on NPR. In addition to producing the show, Buboo also writes, directs and edits series episodes, and works with NYC TV’s award-winning graphics and special effects team to create the final look of the shows.
 
Buboo has worked at NYC TV since 2005, and prior to that had stints at Showtime Networks, Universal Records and HBO.  In addition to her documentary work, Buboo has written and directed various narrative projects which were invited to the Tribeca and Toronto Film Festivals. She was named Top 10 Director in the Project Greenlight Contest and has written a number of screenplays. She holds an MFA in Film & TV Production from New York University and currently lives in Manhattan.
