Change to Federal Rent Calculations for Public Housing Residents in City/State Built Developments

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has changed its policy on how the rent for City/State built Public Housing residents is calculated. They have revised their policy on allowable deductions and now require that all public housing authorities use federally authorized deductions when determining rent. This means that effective with each resident’s Annual Review Quarter, the New York City Housing Authority will begin to use Federal deductions to calculate rent.

If residents have any questions or require clarification regarding the Federal deduction policy, they should visit your Housing Assistant who will be happy to assist. The letter to residents explaining this initiative is below.
