  1. Why did NYCHA change rent payment service providers?

    NYCHA changed rent payment service providers to offer our residents and commercial tenants improved customer service, by offering new payment options, paperless rent statements and a reduced convenience fee schedule.

  2. What are the benefits of signing-up for e-Bill?

    The NYCHA e-Bill is a free and convenient way to receive your monthly rent statements online. The e-Bill is paperless and is in line with NYCHA's Green Agenda. When you sign-up for e-Bill and pay your rent by e-check there is no fee.

  3. How do I sign-up for e-Bill?

    For Residential Tenants you will need your 9 digit tenant ID and your 9 digit account number that can be found on the upper right hand corner of your monthly rent statement. For Commercial tenants you will need your customer and invoice numbers that can be found on the upper right hand corner of your monthly rent statement.

  5. Will I still get my rent statement by mail if I sign up for e-Bill?

    No. When you sign-up for e-Bill you will not receive a statement by mail.

  6. Do I have to make my rent payments online when I am enrolled in e-Bill?

    No, you can use any other payment options that are offered by NYCHA but only the online e-check payment option will be free.

    Yes. Both options are available to commercial tenants.

  8. How does the online banking bill payment work?

    Residents and commercial tenants have the ability to pay their rent by using their banks online banking system or online bill payer. You will now be able to select NYCHA as a payee or add "NYCHA" to your bank’s list of vendors. If you are a resident you will need your Tenant ID number which is located on your monthly rent statement. If you are a commercial tenant you will need your Customer number also located on the monthly billing statement. For assistance with this option, please contact your bank directly.

  9. What is the New York City Housing Authority e-payment system?

    This website enables you to sign-up for e-Bill and pay your rent and other charges that are due to the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) using the Internet. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  10. Why should I pay my rent online?

    It is safe, convenient and saves you time. You will be able to determine when the payment is made and you can also set-up a recurring payment schedule. In addition, you can view your e-payment history when you sign-up for e-bill.

  11. How confidential is the information?

    Your information remains strictly confidential and is protected by all access and confidentiality provisions of Federal, State and City of New York laws. We do not share this information with any third party for any purpose unless required by law. Only those employees whose immediate job responsibilities necessitate having access to this information will be granted such access.

  12. Is the website secure?

    This website has security measures in place to protect against loss, misuse or alteration of the information you provide to us. This website uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), a security protocol that provides data encryption , server authentication and message integrity for connection to the internet to ensure that account numbers and personal data that you provide via this website are not transmitted over the internet unencrypted and cannot be viewed by unauthorized individuals. Due to the nature of the internet, no information transmitted via the internet is guaranteed to be completely secured.

Payment of Rent and Other Charges

  1. What methods of payment will NYCHA accept online?

    You will be able to pay via e-check, which authorizes the amount that you select to be electronically transferred from your bank account to NYCHA or by using your Debit Cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo.

  2. How is the payment amount determined?

    Although residents are encouraged to pay the entire "amount due" that appears on the monthly rent bill, you can elect to pay more than or less than the amount due via the e-payment system.

  3. What do I need to have to make an e-payment?

    For NYCHA Residents: You will be required to enter your 9 digit Tenant ID and your 9 digit Account Number which are printed on your "Remittance Slip" or "Bank Acceptance Slip" and on the upper right hand corner of your rent statement. View the sample below, contact your Management Office or call 212-306-4322 to obtain your Tenant ID and Account Number. If you are paying by eCheck you will need your bank routing number and your checking/savings account number. If you are paying by debit card you will need your Debit Card number and the expiration date of your card.

    For Commercial Tenants: You will be required to enter your Customer Number and your Invoice Number which are printed on your "Remittance Slip" or "Bank Acceptance Slip" and on the upper right hand corner of your rent statement. View the below sample or call 212-306-4322 to obtain your Customer and Invoice number.

4. Can I select a payment schedule?

You will have the option to enroll in e-Bill, make a one time payment or schedule recurring payments on a semi-monthly or monthly basis, and schedule a payment for a future date.

5. Do I need to register to access the e-payment system?

Registration is not required, but you will have the option to register. A registered payee's information is saved in the system so when you log in to make a payment on a return visit to the e-payment system, you will not have to re-enter your personal information.

6. When will my payment be credited to my account?

Payments made before 3:00 PM EST will be credited the same day. Payments made after 3:00 PM EST will be credited the next business day. Payments made on weekends and federal holidays, when banks are closed, will be credited on the next business day.

7. Can I edit or change my payment amount after I have submitted my payment via the ePayment system?

No. You will not be able to change your payment once it has been submitted.

8. What if NYCHA does not accept my payment?

All e-payments are conditional until accepted and processed by your bank. Payments received by NYCHA are accepted “WITHOUT PREJUDICE.” NYCHA reserves the right to reject any payment due to legal reasons. If your payment is rejected, you will receive a refund check, minus the processing fee, in the mail within two to four weeks from the date of your payment.

9. Is there a fee for making payments via the e-payment system?

There are no fees for customers who are enrolled in e-Bill. There is a $0.30 processing fee for eCheck and a convenience fee (see attached Fee Schedule) for Visa or MasterCard Debit Cards. The fee is charged by our third party vendor and no portion of that fee is paid to NYCHA.
