NYCHA staff serving 98 Bronx developments are now located in 62,997 square feet of new office space at 1200 Waters Place in the Hutchinson Metro Center. The Bronx Borough Office Consolidation brings together staff from Bronx Management, Community Operations, Social Services, Capital Projects and Asset Management under one roof.
Located on a spacious 18-acre office campus in Morris Park, the site is New York City’s largest new office complex.
"This consolidation will better ensure effective and coordinated service delivery to our Bronx residents, and it will also provide a professional, efficient work environment for the affected NYCHA staff," said Tino Hernandez, NYCHA Chairman.
The consolidation makes available apartments and community center spaces that the affected departments previously occupied in Bronx housing developments.
Twenty apartments and community spaces utilized by staff will now return to their original use following restoration.
The facility was selected following an extensive needs assessment and site search by staff from NYCHA’s Facility Planning and Administration Department. They took into account many considerations including quality, cost, amenities (such as on-site parking for NYCHA vehicles) and accessibility for employees.
Staff members who moved into the new space in two separate moves have expressed excitement about the new office complex which includes a cafeteria, fitness club and day care. A free shuttle bus will take staff on the five-minute ride from the nearby Westchester Square-E. Tremont subway station on the number 6 line to Waters Place.
