It has come to our attention that unknown individuals are impersonating NYCHA and FEMA workers to falsely seek access into residents apartments by requesting to make repairs or provide disaster assistance.
Please be aware that all NYCHA employees are required to carry identification and must show this I.D. upon request; it should have an orange sticker that says "2012-2013." It is the official source of photo identification for all NYCHA employees. If the orange sticker is not on the I.D. it is NOT VALID. All FEMA representatives also carry photo identification and only collects personal and banking information when an applicant first registers for assistance.
For the safety of our residents, we encourage you to ask for I.D. before allowing access into your apartment or sharing personal information. We have also asked for all employees to voluntarily show their I.D. to residents before entering an apartment.
Please contact your Management Office if you have any further questions.
