The Board of the New York City Housing Authority has approved a $1.3 million contract to repair the exterior brickwork of Moore Houses in The Hub section of the Bronx.
"This is a major renovation work that will not only add to the structural integrity of the buildings, but make the development viable for many years to come,” said NYCHA Chairman Tino Hernandez. "This is in keeping with our philosophy to maintain and preserve our housing stock."
The contract was awarded to the lowest bidder, Stealth Inc., and should take about nine months to complete once work starts.
Moore Houses consists of two, 20-story buildings with 463 apartments housing an estimated 1,247 residents. The 2.69-acre site, completed in March 1964, borders St. Mary’s Park, East 149th Street and Jackson and Trinity Avenues.
