Modern closet doors will be installed in all 843 apartments at
Morrisania Air Rights Houses in the Bronx under a $1,728,984 contract recently
awarded by the Board of the New York City Housing Authority
(NYCHA).
A total of 4,147 closet doors of various types will be replaced. Some 92
swing doors will be put into existing doorframes; 3,840 new swing doors will be
installed with new doorframes, and 215 new sliding doors covered with a plastic
laminated surface will replace existing sliding doors.
"This type of improvement
upgrades our apartments to standards used in new construction," NYCHA Chairman
Tino Hernandez said. “It enhances the living areas by providing for easier,
neater storage, opening up the living space for our residents."
The contract, awarded to Patra
Contracting Corp., will take 15 months to complete once work starts.
