About the NYCHA Youth Chorus
Under the direction of Larry Matthew, the NYCHA Youth Chorus has come to be known as the "Good Will Ambassadors" of the New York City Housing Authority. Since it's inception in 1997, more than 800 chorus members have been engaged in vocal training and have learned music theory, music history and the study of movement.

The NYCHA Youth Chorus is much more than a music program. Through participation in the chorus, members enhance self-esteem, develop confidence and poise, increase self-discipline and self-respect and strengthen self-determination.

About the Chorus Members
NYCHA Youth Chorus members range in age from 9 to 21. All members attend school full time and are encouraged to strive for academic excellence and maintain a "B" grade point average. Chorus members are required to attend rehearsals three times per week from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Additionally, chorus members are required to attend performances throughout the year.
