Symantec Partnership

Symantec Logo Symantec has announced that it is collaborating with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to provide discounted Norton security software specialist training and internships to NYCHA residents, as part of its ongoing commitment to building strong community relationships. Symantec will provide job readiness and training initiatives to the more than 400,000 eligible NYCHA residents, who will receive a discount on Norton security software, as well as opportunities to receive specialist certification on software security and participate in Symantec’s internship program.

Symantec Education Offering
Symantec Education Services, an award winning global IT training organization, will enable residents to establish and improve their IT skills by offering them access to our technical training free of charge, for the term of the contract. Residents have access to the Symantec eLibrary; an online repository of on-demand technical training aligned to Symantec solutions. The availability of these training programs will provide residents an opportunity to build a career in IT or simply improve their overall knowledge of computers and IT for everyday use. Symantec Certification Program
Symantec offers specialist certification credentials for many availability and security products as a means to validate an individual’s technical skills, knowledge, and competence. All certification exams measure technical knowledge of core elements such as installation, configuration, product administration, day-to-day maintenance, and troubleshooting. Symantec Internship Program
“Symantec would consider any NYCHA residents into our intern program that fall under our normal recruiting guidelines and universities” but it would be the responsibility of NYCHA to identify those candidates for us and encourage those candidates to apply. If they do have students who are interested in being considered for any of our internship positions then we would ask them to join Symantec's talent community .

Symantec Consumer Product Line Offering
Symantec will provide a Resident Purchase Program to NYCHA residents. The program will require NYCHA to validate residency of the individuals before providing access to our website to download a version of the approved Norton AntiVirus Security Product (such as having the download link be behind the NYCHA login page). The discount offered with be 40% off the standard buy price. This will be limited to one copy per user per annum which can be used on up to 3 computers. Symantec will provide the Norton for Families product lines to NYCHA residents for free at its discounted software web site .
