Art Programs

Thousands of residents who utilize NYCHA's community centers can express themselves through arts and crafts, photography, collage quilting, and other art forms. Our Community Center staff is trained by professional artist-educators at the Harborview Arts Center/Visual Arts Program to teach art skills to participants. Harborview also organizes numerous exhibitions of resident art work during the Annual Resident Art Show and other events throughout the year.

Resident Art Show
Resident Art Show
The Resident Art Show showcases every year the artistic expression of children, adults and seniors who reside in NYCHA's developments citywide through hundreds of visual art works. The art works are created in a variety of mediums at weekly workshops conducted by Harborview Visual Arts Center's artist-educators at 103 community and senior centers citywide. From the art pieces generated at the workshops, art teachers and NYCHA staff pre-select 1,000 entries which are then presented to a jury of three art professionals, who then select the art works to be exhibited at the show. The 24th annual Resident Art Show is held at Harborview Visual Art Center. For further information, please call (212) 306-2920. Learn more about the Resident Art Show.
