NYCHA developments are home to 135 Senior Centers which offer a great variety of programs for senior residents of public housing and their neighbors in the community. New York City’s Department for the Aging (DFTA) oversees most of these centers. NYCHA operates 43 senior centers, while DFTA operates 92 of these senior centers.
Whether it is located within a Community Center or a stand-alone facility, your local Senior Center offers a full calendar of activities from bingo to gardening, movies and field trips. Most Senior Centers also provide nutritious meals and snacks daily. Senior Centers are open from 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Contact your local Senior Center for the most updated schedule of programs.
