Administrative Staff Analyst - Risk Finance
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Manage and direct the completion of NYCHA's IT Project to upgrade to a web based Vendor Insurance Tracking System.
- Provide departments with information regarding the procurement of contracts and other agreements that require insurance protection.
- Ensure that standard protocols of insurance requirements are met for various NYCHA operations, track compliance and share results with stakeholders.
- Approve vendors for insurance compliance to proposed agreements with the Housing Authority through various procedural processes.
- Assist the Deputy Director of Risk Finance with the completion of necessary renewal applications, obtain data from interdepartmental members, conduct research concerning new products which cover changing operations, establish protocol for timely follow-up and action plans for long term assignments, create and implement Request for Proposals for insurance and other related services and supervise staff.
- Maintain ongoing communications and liaise with internal and external clients, i.e., attorneys, brokers, consultants, other governmental agencies.
- Utilize financial applications to support the division's accounting functions and approval for subsequent processing of third party expense payments.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, or a closely related field, and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area. 18 months of this experience must have been in an executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity. Supervision must have included supervising staff performing professional work in the areas described above; or
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of professional experience in the areas described in "1" above, including the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience, as described in "1" above.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in insurance, risk management or a related business field including property and casualty insurance and risk management course work.
- Two or more years of satisfactory full-time experience within account service or claims divisions of either Commercial Property and Casualty broker, agent, consultant, insurer or within a risk management department handling similar responsibilities affiliated with risk transfer including insurance procurement, claims determination with settlement authority and customer service.
- Possession of Professional Insurance Licenses or Designations preferred.
SKILLS DESIRED:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and ORACLE based systems.
- Knowledge of commercial property and casualty coverage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
