IT Strategic Plan

NYCHA’s IT Strategic Plan
NYCHA’s IT Strategic Plan provides a broad overview of the information technology goals of the agency through 2011. The plan includes a roadmap of prioritized initiatives NYCHA is undertaking over the next twenty-four months, a number of which are already in progress. These IT initiatives are all driven by NYCHA business requirements, reflecting one of the goals in NYCHA’s “Plan to Preserve Public Housing” to “Implement Management and Technological Improvements to Reduce Costs and Improve Services.” As a result, NYCHA has been able to capitalize its investment in technologies, reap the benefits of shared knowledge and experiences and realize much-needed cost-savings.

Broadband over Power Line Proof of Concept

NYCHA Information Technology conducted a Broadband over Power Line (BPL) technology proof of concept (POC) to evaluate BPL technology, and to develop a business plan to provide a cost effective solution to replace the legacy intercom systems (which currently cannot support multifunction communication and broadband for high-speed internet connectivity) and the Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) security systems throughout all of NYCHA's housing developments.
