Janet D. Subrizi was appointed Director of Human Resources for the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) in February 2014. In this capacity, she is responsible for the administration of all personnel programs and the staffing of public housing developments, central offices and all other NYCHA locations with more than 12,000 qualified employees. In addition, Ms. Subrizi advises the Authority on personnel development, retention, policies and issues. In consultation with the Executive Department, Ms. Subrizi oversees NYCHA’s labor relations program and represents the Authority with the Civil Service Commission, the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) and the NYC Office of Labor Relations.
Ms. Subrizi joined NYCHA with more than 30 years of experience in Human Resources administration in both the public and not-for-profit sectors. Most recently, she served as Director of the Employment Section for the New York City Police Department, where she directed and oversaw all human resources activities for NYPD’s 15,000 civilian employees. Prior to that, Ms. Subrizi served as Assistant Commissioner for Personnel Services at the Administration for Children's Services, where she was responsible for directing the provision of human resources services to the agency’s 6,500 employees and collaborated with senior management on the development of strategic workforce planning related to social service programs.
Ms. Subrizi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hunter College and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Baruch College.
