Deidra Gilliard was appointed Vice President for Community Programs and Development for the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) in February 2015. In this capacity, she oversees the operation of over 500 community facilities in which educational, social service, cultural and recreational programs are provided to public housing residents. A former NYCHA resident, Ms. Gilliard began her full time employment with NYCHA in 1986 as a Community Center Director and has held progressively responsible positions focused on strengthening resident relations, resident empowerment, and the provision of quality services.
During her tenure at NYCHA, Ms. Gilliard has served as the Citywide Coordinator of NYCHA’s Feeding Programs; Assistant Director of Employment and Training Programs for the Department of Economic Initiatives; the Director of Citywide Programs and Contract Management, and the Director of the Bronx Community Operations Department.
Ms. Gilliard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Duke University.
