On April 4, 2004, the Computerworld Medal of Achievement was presented to the Authority at San Francisco City Hall. The honor was awarded for the inclusion of NYCHA’s Project B.E.S.T. in Computerworld’s 2004 Honors Collection. An international compilation of case studies, the Collection is archived in 36 countries as a leading example of how information technology is used to benefit society. NYCHA’s case study describes the re-design of its budget and re-engineering of its financial accounting systems with a fully integrated Oracle software package, to increase efficiency and accountability.
At the awards ceremony, DGM for Finance Felix Lam, who oversees NYCHA’s extensive financial and accounting systems, was awarded the 2004 Laureate Medal of Honor by the Computerworld Honors Program.
