Best of New York State Sound Practice Award
NYCHA’s Virtual Information Technology (IT) Project Management Office (Virtual IT PMO) received Special Recognition for Sound Practice in IT Governance and Management in the 2006 Best of New York (State) annual competition. The award recognized NYCHA’s establishment of a project management methodology that aligns its business and IT strategy. This approach has already led to increased productivity, reduced costs and improved resident satisfaction. It has also enhanced NYCHA’s ability to make informed decisions about future strategic business-aligned IT programs.
Established by the Center for Digital Government, the Best of New York (State) awards salute IT professionals in state and local governments for their contributions and dedication. The Special Recognition award was presented on June 22, 2006, at the Marriott Hotel in Albany.
Public Technology Institute Solutions Award
The Public
Technology Institute (PTI), a national non-profit research and technology
organization, has awarded NYCHA an Honorable Mention for its Virtual Information
Technology Project Management Office (Virtual IT PMO). NYCHA received honorable
mention in the IT category for large local government entities. The Virtual IT
PMO develops the methodology, tools and processes used in selecting and managing
NYCHA’s IT investment, to ensure its alignment with business needs and long term
objectives. Created by and for local governments, the PTI Solutions Award
recognizes cost savings, operational improvements and enhanced service to the
community that result from the innovative use of technology.
