NYCHA Receives Award for Excellence and Innovation in Affordable Housing

New York City Housing Authority Chairman John B. Rhea was presented with the New York State Association for Affordable Housing (NYSAFAH) Award for Excellence and Innovation during the 11th Annual New York State Affordable Housing Conference on April 29th, 2010.

NYSAFAH presents the award each year to individuals, City agencies, and other organizations that employ innovative ideas to build, fund or preserve affordable housing.

One recent example of NYCHA's pioneering thinking was the completion of its historic Mixed-Finance Modernization Plan that secures ongoing federal funding for its 21 City-and State built developments, allowing for the preservation of more than 20,000 units of affordable housing. The New York State Association for Affordable Housing, formed in 1998, is a trade association for private sector organizations throughout New York State that are involved in affordable housing.
