NYCHA’s award winning Smart Building Technology initiative has been included
among the Digital Government Achievement winners in the "government internal"
category by the Center for Digital Government. This initiative encompasses the
Computerized Heating Automated System (CHAS) and the Housing Authority Remote
Monitoring System (HARMS).
CHAS will provide for the remote monitoring and management of NYCHA’s 195
major central heating plants through a web-based software on its wide area
network. HARMS will bring the benefits of remote monitoring and management to
NYCHA’s formidable elevator fleet.
The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory
institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and
local government.
