Senior Vice President for Leased Housing

Welcome to the New York City Housing Authority’s Section 8 website - the largest Section 8 program in the nation. Our mission is to assist very low-income families to afford decent and sanitary housing in the public and private market through the provision of housing assistance in the form of rent subsidy. As you navigate through our website we hope you find the information provided useful.

New Leased Housing Leadership

Since my appointment as Assistant Deputy General Manager for Leased Housing in June 2011, my focus has been to improve our delivery of service and become a more open, transparent and customer-focused organization; I am confident that with the implementation of our new computer system earlier this year and the renewed focus and dedication of our Section 8 staff, customer service for applicants, residents and property owners will be priority one. In fact, in response to recent feedback received from our customers we have implemented or are working on some changes for the near future.

Improving Customer Service

Effective August 1, 2011, the Leased Housing Customer Service Unit was launched to provide ombudsman-type services to our valued customers. Learn more by clicking the above link.

Our website is currently being re-designed with you in mind: one-click access to the Landlord Extranet from the left navigation; easier access to Leased Housing contact information. In the near future, you will see many changes that aim to keep you better informed whether you are a prospective tenant, a current Section 8 tenant or property owner/agent. Your continued feedback is important and welcomed.

New Vision for NYCHA's Section 8 Program

Our vision for continuous improvements to the Section 8 program will be achieved through three guiding principles:

1)  improve customer service experience through transparency and access to information regarding the Housing Authority and its business processes;

2)  increase affordable housing in New York City by continuing to work with our various industry stakeholders; and

3)  Ensure service delivery efficiently and effectively for maximum utilization of limited resources.
