The Capacity Building and Oversight unit (CBO) at the Mayors Office of Contract Services was created to establish best practice standards and conduct assessments of the organizational capacity and governance practices of not-for-profit City vendors through free training and CBO Reviews. CBO supports the understanding, implementation, maintenance and strengthening of effective internal controls and financial oversight. • Conducts assessments of organizational capacity and governance practices in not-for-profit vendors using the Not-for-Profit Vendor Review Report (in PDF). For more information about CBO Reviews please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions document (in PDF).
• Provides free training (in PDF) to nonprofits to strengthen board governance, financial management, legal compliance and contract management. Not-for-profit board members, officers and staff members of not-for-profit organizations that have one or more current contract(s) with the City of New York may attend these classes at no charge.
