Fire and water come together in an amazing display on the East River between 23rd and 42nd street involving four barges, more than 20,000 aerial shells and special effects, the New York Fire Department shooting red, clear and blue water 300 feet over the river and Macy's specially recorded musical accompaniment available on 1010 WINS AM. Titled "Voices of Liberty," the 25th anniversary of Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular promises to be an incredible evening for the whole family.
There are several ways to participate:
Manhattan: Spectators can view the display from the FDR drive between 14th and 42nd street. Pedestrian access ramps are located at 23rd, 38th, and 42nd streets, and will be open from 7:30pm until 10pm. Because of this, FDR will be closed to motorists between Houston and 63rd street from 7pm until 1am.
Brooklyn and Queens: Enjoy the display in Brooklyn and Queens from anywhere with an unobstructed view of 23rd through 42nd street, such as Hunter's Point, Queens or Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Watercraft: If you prefer to be on the water, your vessel must remain south of the Williamsburg Bridge on the north of the southernmost tip of the Roosevelt Bridge in Newton Creek. For further information, contact Macy's Marine Hotline at (212) 494-5247.
Television: If you can't make it down to the City, you can take part in the celebration with NBC's national broadcast of the Fireworks Spectacular.
