The lrish Hunger Memorial was designed to raise public awareness of the events that led to the famine of 1845-52 and to encourage efforts to address current and future hunger worldwide. One and a half million Irish were lost through famine related death and the Diaspora. The design expresses a desire to react and respond to changing world events without losing its focus on the project's commemorative intent.
Central Park Skate Patrol
The Central Park Skate Patrol in New York City is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that operates from April through October and gives an average of 5,000 braking lessons a year at their free Stopping Clinics. During our more than fifteen years of existence they've taught over 50,000 people how to brake! The Skate Patrol also assists the Police and Parks Department with traffic control during special events in Central Park such as operas, concerts, skate races, and other events organized by the Parks Department in which a large number of people enter the Park.
