Actor Alec Baldwin joins the Mayor in presenting the 2011 Mayor’s Awards for Arts and Culture.

This Week on City Scoop… Mayor Bloomberg and the Department of Buildings launch a new high-tech digital hub, allowing building developers to have permits approved electronically. A $33 million renovation is underway for one of Brooklyn’s premiere Media Arts Centers. The NYC BigApps 3.0 Competition is looking to offer $50,000 in prizes to software developers who can create new apps from open City data.

This Week on City Scoop… Mayor Bloomberg opens Twitter’s new East Coast Headquarters on Madison Avenue. A landmark agreement between the City and the United Nations will fill the gap in Manhattan’s 32-mile waterfront greenway. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This Week on City Scoop… Mayor Bloomberg announces 600 more jobs for New Yorkers by the year 2014, thanks to London publishing giant Pearson PLC. The Mayor takes to the U.N. General Assembly to address worldwide health effects of cigarette smoking. It’s official: the Brooklyn Nets will open Basketball Season 2012 at the new Barclays Center Arena.

This Week on City Scoop… Mayor Bloomberg kicks off Climate Week NYC 2011, by announcing City efforts to reduce greenhouse emissions 30 percent by 2017. Small Business Services awards $700,000 in training grants to 16 businesses throughout the City, helping create jobs and strengthen NYC’s economy. Kicking the habit is more popular than ever, as smokers across the five boroughs have dropped 35 percent.

This Week on City Scoop… New York City commemorates the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks at the World Trade Center site. Mayor Bloomberg joins Community Board 1 for a tree planting ceremony in Battery Park to commemorate the 10th anniversary of September 11th. NYPD honors its’ fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11 and the days following the tragedy.
