CITY GRIDIRON - FOCUSING ON NYC HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL - PREMIERES ON NYC LIFE
New Episodes Air Wednesdays at 9:30pm

September 25, 2012 - City Gridiron reveals the inspirational passion displayed by the City’s players and coaches. After meeting the players in the PSAL (NYC's Public School Athletic League), viewers will gain a new respect for the quality football players coming out of the five boroughs as they watch NYC’s elite student-athletes compete for championships and a chance to play on the next level. The top players go on to Division I schools like Notre Dame, Florida or Syracuse, and the series covers the spectrum of scholarships earned to play at D-I, D-II, D-III and junior college.

Following the footsteps of City Gridiron alums Ishaq Williams (Notre Dame) and Wayne Morgan (Syracuse), this season shines a spotlight on Ebenezer “Ebo” Ogundeko. The 16 year-old Thomas Jefferson High School defensive end is considered the top player in the City and the State and is being recruited by every major college program in the country. Now the senior must choose from 36 scholarship offers before graduation in December.

The first episode features the game between Jefferson High School and Brooklyn Tech. The season will also look to provide coverage of Lincoln High School and Erasmus Hall as they vie for a rematch to declare the Public School Champion of NYC.

City Gridiron premieres on Wednesday, September 26 at 9:30pm on NYC life (Channel 25). NYC life is available in the New York tri-state area on broadcast, cable and satellite channels. Visit nyc.gov/media for local cable and satellite listings. City Gridiron will also be available to watch online on the NYC Media Video on Demand player – nyc.gov/vod, from iTunes and through the NYC Media app, available to download for free from iTunes.
