Series Airs Fridays at 8:30pm on NYC life

September 16, 2011 - Tamara Tunie Presents City Classics – airing Fridays on NYC life – draws from newly uncovered footage deep within the City’s film archives, featuring clips that date back from the 1940s to 1970s. Hosted by a true New Yorker, actor, producer, director Tamara Tunie (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), each episode offers an exciting glimpse into the City’s past, revealing the compelling, humorous and extraordinary stories that have shaped New York City. With insightful background details and humorous asides that appear on screen, viewers are in for a quirky and nostalgic trip to the New York City that was. NYC life is viewed by almost 1.5 million New Yorkers each week on television and online and is available in over 18 million homes across the tri-state region.

Tamara Tunie hosts this special series sharing with her fellow New Yorkers how their City has evolved over time. Best known as the medical examiner Melinda Warner in Wolf Films/Universal Media Studio’s top-rated series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Ms. Tunie has had numerous memorable roles on television, most notably as the longstanding character Jessica Griffin on the CBS daytime drama As The World Turns for which she received two NAACP Image Award nominations and two Soap Opera Digest award nominations. She also appeared in the highly visible role of Alberta Green in season one of the hit series 24 (when she worked on three series simultaneously), as well as guest appearances on Law and Order, Sex and the City and NYPD Blue. She has also starred on Broadway with Denzel Washington in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, the play’s first Broadway staging in over 50 years. In 2006–2007, Ms. Tunie became a Broadway producer on the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening and directed and produced the film See You in September, which takes place right here in the Big Apple. 


Tamara Tunie Presents City Classics airs Fridays at 8:30pm on NYC life. NYC life is available in the New York tri-state area on broadcast, cable and satellite channels, Channel 25 on most systems and Channel 22 on Cablevision.
