On behalf of Community Board 6, welcome to our Web site. For those with an interest in our neighborhoods the Web site is a great resource and allows a direct connection to the Board.

The Board's fifty members represent the many neighborhoods of Manhattan's East Side stretching from East 14th Street north to East 59th Street. Within our boundaries are many of New York City’s most well known landmarks, including the United Nations, the Chrysler Building, historic neighborhoods and some of the most respected medical institutions in the world.

We invite you to attend the Board’s many meetings (check the Calendar for dates, times, and agendas); at these meetings you will learn what is happening in your community and be able to offer your input. Topics range from proposed liquor licenses to new schools, from parks to health issues, and many other issues. Should you attend a meeting, you will learn more about many exciting projects including the development of the former Con Edison property on First Avenue (which will include a new school), the development of a greenway along the East River and regulations that will promote safer conditions on and near construction sites.

Community Board Six is well-respected and known for thoughtful deliberation, its ability to affect changes to City procedures, and its responsiveness to community residents and businesses. The Community Board process is one of the most accessible ways to experience democracy in action. By taking part, you can make your voice heard and help create a better place to live and work.
