Noah Pfefferblit
District Manager

Welcome to the website of Manhattan Community Board 1.  CB1 is one of New York City's 59 community boards, covering most of the southernmost part of Lower Manhattan below Canal Street (view a map of the Community Board).

Community Board members are appointed by the Borough President and make recommendations to government agencies about significant matters affecting the district.  CB1 is concerned with quality of life and the delivery of services to the district and advocate on behalf of those who live or work in the district.  Community boards have a role in many key New York City government processes as defined by Chapter 70 in the New York City Charter, including land use and zoning, the budget, service delivery, and many other areas.

Community Board staff are available to assist with local issues and provide information to the public.  Please feel free to contact the Community Board.
