	Perform Work on a Landmark Property The owners of landmark sites or their tenants need to apply for a permit from the Landmarks Preservation Commission before making most types of changes to their properties. LPC is required by law to determine whether a proposed change affects the jk;significant features of a landmark property. Learn about the permit process


	Propose a Landmark or Historic District Any member of the public can propose a site for consideration as an individual landmark status or an area for consideration as a historic district. Learn how to propose a landmark or historic district


	Report a Violation Owners are required to keep their landmark properties in good repair and obtain an LPC permit before making changes to them. Violations of occur either when a landmark property is altered without a permit or when approved work does not comply with a permit. Learn how to report a violation


	Confirm the Landmark Status of a Property LPC's staff can confirm in writing whether a building or site is landmarked. Learn how to document a site's landmark status


	Request LPC Records The Landmarks Preservation Commission maintains several different types of records: archived material pertaining to the designation of individual buildings, interior landmarks, scenic landmarks, and historic districts; drawings and other documents related to alterations to landmark buildings; Warning Letters or Notices of Violation and materials pertaining to environmental reviews.
