Applying to work on a Landmarked Building

Application For Work on Designated Properties: this is the only form required to apply for any type of work.

Owner’s Form for Expedited Review: the owner of the building must complete this form to qualify for our Expedited Review.

Architect’s or Engineer’s Form for Expedited Review: the architect or engineer for the building must complete this form to qualify for our Expedited Review.

Nominate a new landmark or historic district

The Commission asks members of the public who propose properties for potential designation to fill out a Request for Evaluation (RFE) form. This form requests the individual to provide as much information about the property as possible, including photographs and/or slides.

Records Access Request

Print and complete this Appointment Request for Records Access form, and fax the form to the Public Information Specialist at 212-669-3844. The Public Information Specialist will route the request to the appropriate department. A staff member will contact visitors to schedule a mutually convenient time for record review.

Environmental Review Submission Requirements
All projects submitted for review should include the following materials(s):
  • Project Description, including block/lot and borough
  • Maps WITH 400' RADIUS locating project, preferably from the NYC.GOV Map Portal OR Sanborn
  • Photographs (may be digital or on CD)
  • EAS form if available
