Code Compliance Timetable

Article 7-C of the Multiple Dwelling Law (MDL) sets forth the following timetable for the conversion of IMD buildings to lawful residential spaces:


MDL Sec. 284(1)(i)
  Deadlines established in 1982
File an alteration application - March 21, 1983
Obtain a permit - June 21, 1983
Achieve Article 7-B compliance - December 21, 1983
Obtain a certificate of occupancy - June 21, 1985

MDL Sec. 284(1)(ii)
  Deadlines established in 1992
File an alteration application - October 1, 1992
Obtain a permit - October 1, 1993
Achieve Article 7-B compliance - April 1, 1995
Obtain a certificate of occupancy - October 1, 1995

MDL Sec. 284(1)(iii)
  Deadlines established in 1996
File an alteration application - October 1, 1996
Obtain a permit - October 1, 1997
Achieve Article 7-B compliance - April 1, 1999
Obtain a certificate of occupancy - June 30, 1999

MDL Sec. 284(1)(iv)
  Deadlines established in 1999
File an alteration application - September 1, 1999
Obtain a permit - March 1, 2000
Achieve Article 7-B compliance - May 1, 2002
Obtain a certificate of occupancy - May 31, 2002

  Deadlines established in 2002
File an alteration application - September 1, 1999
Obtain a permit - March 1, 2000
Achieve Article 7-B compliance - May 1, 2010
Obtain a certificate of occupancy - May 31, 2010
