Thursday, September 24, 2009,
Marriott Marquis in New
York
(New York, NY.) Leading television industry
publications Multichannel News and Broadcasting & Cable have
announced that they will present the coveted, annual Achievement in Hispanic
Television Award to an advertiser and to its executive responsible for that
company’s commitment to Hispanic audiences.
This year’s
award will be presented to one of the leading advertisers on Hispanic
television, Procter & Gamble and notably to Edgar Sandoval who is the
executive who has been leading the charge at the company for Hispanic
marketing. Sandoval, the General Manager, North America Marketing
for P&G will be presented the Award for his personal leadership and for
P&G’s commitment to Hispanic television
advertising.
The presentation
to an advertiser is particularly appropriate as the Summit is participating as
the Hispanic cornerstone event in the 2009 Advertising Week New York. The
Summit is
scheduled for Wednesday, September 23 and Thursday, September 24. The Award
presentation ceremony is during the Closing Luncheon at 1 pm on Thursday at the
Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square New York.
According to Larry
Dunn, Reed Television’s Group Publisher for Multichannel News and Broadcasting &
Cable, “We are extremely pleased to have the unique opportunity to present
this award to Mr. Sandoval and to the people of Procter & Gamble.”
Dunn continued, “It is because of the personal involvement of individuals like
Edgar Sandoval, and the support of television advertising from companies like
P&G, that there is a growing Hispanic television industry.”
The award for
Achievement in Hispanic Television is the only award presented collectively by
both of these leading trade publications. There is only one recipient per
year. The award is traditionally presented at the Hispanic Television
Summit.
The Hispanic
Television Summit has been presented annually since 2003 and attracts more than
400 attendees. The Summit is the television
industry’s signature conference for executives involved in the business
of television and digital video targeted to the US Hispanic and Latin American
viewing audience.
Sandoval joins
an elite group of prior recipients including Sábado Gigante host, Don
Francisco; sportscaster Andres Cantor; host of Al Rojo Vivo, María
Celeste Arrarás; talk-show personality and host of El Show de Cristina,
Cristina Saralegui; and network news journalist and anchorman, Jorge
Ramos.
Mr. Sandoval is
the General Manager of North America Marketing at Procter & Gamble. He
joined the company fifteen years ago, in Procter & Gamble’s North America
Fabric Care Business. Since then, Edgar Sandoval has played a leading role
in inspiring the organization to consider what it is like to walk in the shoes
of consumers of diverse backgrounds. In his rise through the ranks at P&G,
Mr. Sandoval achieved recognition for his contribution to building franchise
equity and business growth on brands such as Bounce, Cascade, Mr. Clean, Tide,
Gain, Dawn, Ace and Ariel, and was honored with the Goldstein Award, Procter
& Gamble’s most respected Marketing award. In 2007, Mr. Sandoval was
named General Manager for North America Marketing and Multicultural
Business. In this capacity, he led the company’s Multicultural Business
Development Organization and marketing area in North
America.
