became the Chief Operating Officer of Telemundo 47 in March 2008. She had been the publisher of People en Español, the best selling Hispanic magazine in the U.S. She joined the magazine in March 2004 with more than 17 years experience in advertising sales and brand development with significant focus on international television, print and multi-media.
Under her leadership, the magazine topped Adweek's 2005 "10 Under 50" Hot List in recognition of its outstanding advertising sales and circulation growth. Advertising Age named her one of the "Top 10 Players in the Hispanic Market" in 2005 and 2007 and profiled her the annual issue of Hispanic Magazine's "Latinas of Excellence." In 2006 Adweek named her Adweek's Marketing & Medios' Media Executive of the Year.
Before joining People en Español, Ms. Hernández was vice president of Global Account Development at Turner International, responsible for driving advertising revenues from key global accounts and for steering the marketing, research and sponsorship departments for Turner International's properties (CNN International, CNN en Español, TNT Latin America and Cartoon Network.)
Prior to joining Turner, Ms. Hernández was marketing director of Time Inc. International, where she was instrumental in developing cross-platform advertising opportunities for TIME, Fortune and Asiaweek. During that time, she received a President's Award for the company's first multi-lingual and cross-media platform, "Leaders of the New Millennium."
She sits on the board of the Emmys en Español and is the first vice president for the International Advertising Association. Additionally, she is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including Advertising Women of New York and National Association of Minorities in Cable.
Ms. Hernández received a B..A. from Tufts University and an M.B.A. from Baruch College.
