CARLOS SANCHEZ
President and General Manager, WNJU Telemundo 47
Carlos Sánchez is President and General Manager of WNJU Telemundo 47, New York's first Spanish language station serving the tri-state area for more than 43 years. Mr. Sánchez joined the station in February 2008 and reports to Ibra Morales, President of the Telemundo Television Stations group.
A key player in the broadcast media industry, he previously served as Vice President and General Manager of Telemundo stations KBLR in Las Vegas, Nevada and KDEN in Denver, Colorado from 2005-2008. During his tenure, he oversaw the acquisition and integration of the Las Vegas station into the NBC Universal Owned and Operated stations group. Additionally, he was responsible for spearheading all promotional and sales strategies for both stations. Under his leadership, KBLR Telemundo Las Vegas received the prestigious "Most Outstanding Business Entity Award" from the Latino Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Sánchez began his career in broadcasting as an Account Manager with the KBNT Univision station in San Diego, California. He then joined the Telemundo family as General Manager of XHAS in San Diego, California in 1997. In that capacity, he was responsible for the oversight of a dual location television station with operations on both sides of the U.S. and Mexico borders.
Firmly committed to local community involvement, Mr. Sánchez is a member of the Board of Directors for the United Way and for the Latino Chamber of Commerce in Las Vegas. He also serves as an Advisory Board member of the Hank Greenspun School of Media at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Before transitioning into the broadcast media industry, he worked in sales management for the transportation industry handling large international accounts based along the Mexico and U.S. border. Prior to that, he traveled and settled in Japan and China where he taught English as a Second Language to young children for five years.
