City Reaches Historic Agreement Ending 25-Year Homeless
The Law Department, along with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, the Legal Aid Society and the City's Department of Homeless Services, announced in September a historic agreement dismissing several lawsuits, which, due to court oversight, had governed the homeless services system (for families with children) for 25 years, thus hampering the City's ability to implement innovative new policies and services.

Attorneys
from the Law Dept work to further the goals of PlaNYC
On Friday, August 8th, Governor Paterson signed several bills
that support the goals of PlaNYC, the City's plan to create
a more sustainable urban environment by 2030. Two of the bills
were drafted by the Law Dept's Legal Counsel Division . In
addition, the Law Dept's Environmental Law Division has worked
on elements on PlaNYC. The laws will encourage building owners
and developers to construct more environmentally friendly buildings. View
