I joined the Affirmative Litigation division of the Law Department after one year of clerking for a Court of Appeals judge and three years at the law firm of Jenner & Block in Chicago. The Affirmative Litigation division brings cases on behalf of the City as plaintiff in state and federal court. It seeks to vindicate the City's interest and the public interest through litigation against the State, the federal government, private companies and individuals. My cases deal with a wide variety of subjects, including social welfare policy, civil RICO, civil rights, fiscal reimbursement by the state and federal governments, toxic torts, and commercial and insurance matters. I love working here because I get to work with smart, dedicated colleagues on interesting and challenging cases on behalf of the greatest city in the world.
