Affirmative Litigation represents the City as plaintiff in a wide variety of lawsuits including actions against insurance companies, cigarette distributors, City contractors, foreign embassies in arrears on their property taxes (see Permanent Mission of India to the U.N. v. City of New York, 551 U.S. 193 (2007)), gun dealers (see City of New York v. A-1 Jewelry & Pawn, 501 F. Supp. 2d 369 (E.D.N.Y. 2007)), and other governmental entities. Many of our cases involve novel aspects of law, issues of public concern, or both. My colleagues are smart, fun and dedicated. Before joining the Law Department, I worked for a large New York law firm and clerked for a federal district court judge in Washington, D.C.
