I came to the Law Department just after graduating from law school, and quickly was permitted to take on significant responsibility in a wide variety of matters.  I've worked on affirmative environmental cases of all sizes, from administrative proceedings before the City's Environmental Control Board to a federal product liability action against ExxonMobil for MTBE contamination of groundwater that resulted in a $104 million jury verdict.  On the other hand, I also defend City agencies who allegedly cause contamination or fail to adequately review the environmental impacts of a project (ranging from a homeless shelter to the Willets Point Development Plan).  I've advised City agencies on clean heating oil legislation and other PlaNYC sustainability efforts, spoken before the Village Planning Board of an upstate community about potential risks to the City's drinking water supply, and participated in the City's response to the proposed listing of Newtown Creek as a Superfund site.  The list of interesting experiences could go on, but more importantly, the people in my Division are smart, dedicated, and tremendously supportive.
