Experienced Attorneys

Experienced attorneys and law school graduates awaiting bar results or admission to the bar are welcome to submit applications to the Law Department at any time.  Applicants may respond to current vacancies or may submit applications for our active resume bank.  Current vacancies for experienced attorney are listed here.

Applications to our active resume bank will be acknowledged and held for a period of six months from the date that the application is received.  Applicants who would like to continue to be considered for employment after six months should resubmit their applications.  Applications should include a cover letter, resume, writing sample and law school transcript (if out of law school less than seven years).  Applicants selected for interviews will be asked to submit references.

Applicants should either:  (1) be admitted to the bar of the State of New York; (2) have taken the first available New York State bar following graduation and be awaiting the results of the bar or awaiting admission; or (3) admitted in another State and eligible for admission to New York without having to take the New York State bar examination.

Applications for our active resume bank should be submitted through our online application process, addressed to:

Applications will no longer be accepted by regular mail or e-mail.  Questions, however, may be sent to recruitment@law.nyc.gov.
