Course Description: |
The Shoulder Dystocia Teamwork and Skills Course is designed to share best practices for the team-based clinical management of shoulder dystocia. Recognizing that shoulder dystocia is not a situation that can be predicted, the course prepares the learners to anticipate that it might occur, along with providing the learners an opportunity to practice with the latest evidenced-based skills that may lead to better outcomes. This course employs active learning methodologies and as such, learners will be heavily involved in acquiring and processing the latest evidenced-based information and best practices concerning shoulder dystocia complications, teamwork and communication skills (TeamSTEPPS), and documentation issues. Learners will practice and assess their shoulder dystocia and teamwork skills using specially-designed shoulder dystocia simulators and team-assessment techniques.
This course does not certify personnel or grant privileges to use any of these techniques, nor is this course a substitute for local supervised competency assessment.
