The Postpartum Hemorrhage Teamwork and Skills course is designed to share best practices for the team-based clinical management of postpartum hemorrhage. Recognizing that this obstetric emergency is often unpredictable, this course prepares the learners to anticipate when hemorrhage might occur, therapies to resolve hemorrhage, and a team-based approach to the massive hemorrhage protocol. Furthemore, the learners are provided hands-on opportunity to practice the latest evidenced-based skills that may lead to better outcomes. This course employs active learning methodologies so learners will be heavily involved in acquiring and processing the latest information and best practices concerning postpartum hemorrhage, massive hemorrhage protocols, teamwork and communication skills (TeamSTEPPS). Learners will practice and assess their teamwork skills using specially-designed high-fidelity simulators and team-assessment techniques.
This course does not certify personnel or grant privileges to use any of these techniques, nor is this course a substitute for local supervised competency assessment.
