Mission
The mission of the Institute for Medical Simulation and Advanced Learning (IMSAL) is to deliver state-of-the-art training and assessment programs for the purpose of assuring the safety and quality of healthcare delivered by the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC).

Vision
IMSAL will use simulation and other advanced methods of training and assessment to significantly improve the clinical performance and teamwork of healthcare professionals and processes of care throughout the HHC system in order to create safer patient environments, minimize risk and improve patient outcomes. IMSAL programs will be linked to HHC's quality improvement and risk management processes, so as to effectively address opportunities to improve care that are identified through any of these activities. IMSAL programs will support the transformation to a "culture of safety" in HHC facilities. The IMSAL will partner effectively with other organizations to advance shared public health and safety agendas, including emergency preparedness and provider competency assurance.
