Police Department (NYPD)
The NYPD is committed to providing, with the utmost integrity and respect, a safe and secure environment for the public. The personnel assigned to the Department’s 76 precincts, 12 Transit Districts, nine Housing Police Service Areas and other investigative and specialized units, protect life and deter crime while responding to emergency calls and impartially enforcing the law.

NYPD’s New Immigrant Outreach Unit
The New Immigrant Outreach Unit serves as a link between the NYPD and new immigrant communities not traditionally engaged with the police department. New Immigrant Outreach Liaisons present police department policies, programs, and services to new immigrant communities. In addition, liaisons are able speak different languages which can better help communicate with the various immigrant communities.

Fire Department (FDNY)
FDNY responds to fires, public safety and medical emergencies, disasters, and terrorist acts to protect the lives and property of City residents and visitors. The Department advances fire safety through its fire prevention, investigation, and education programs, as well as contributes to the City’s homeland security efforts. The Department responds to over 280,000 fire and non-fire related emergencies and over one million medical emergencies each year, and maintains over 250 firehouses and ambulance stations.
