Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn recently announced that small businesses can take advantage of the NYC Penalty Relief Program, which eliminates late penalties and interest on eligible, outstanding Environmental Control Board debt for those that apply to pay their base fine amount before December 21st.
Get relief on outstanding Environmental Control Board tickets with hearing dates scheduled before May 1, 2009. For those tickets that qualify, you will not have to pay default, interest or late penalty charges. The program includes violations for dirty sidewalks, illegal posting of handbills and other tickets issued by City agencies. To learn more, visit www.NYC.gov/finance.
The Mayor and City Council Speaker recently created the Regulatory Review Panel. The Panel will review the structure and function of City regulations and their impact on small businesses. The Panel will issue a report at the end of the year that will include a series of recommendations that are expected to fall into the following categories: changes in law, improved customer service, and greater transparency. Do you have a suggestion or idea for the Panel? If so, e-mail regreview@cityhall.nyc.gov.
