As of Saturday, October 27 @ 6 p.m.
As you know in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy's arrival, the city has opened 65 evacuation sites throughout the city. While at this time we do not anticipate a mandatory evacuation, we will be keeping those sites open for people who believe during the storm they cannot stay in their homes. We need to ensure those sites are adequately staffed.
If you signed up to volunteer to assist at these sites you should have already been contacted by OEM asking you to report to a site. Please respond to OEM and go to your locations. Staff will be paid according to their collective bargaining agreement and we need their help to make sure the evacuation sites are run in a safe and secure manner.
If you did not previously sign up - we still need your help starting tomorrow at 8am! Please review this link of shelters and report to the shelter closest to you.
Thank you in advance for your help and your commitment to help New Yorkers!
As of Friday, October 26 @ 4 p.m.
