Domestic Violence Support Services

NYC 24-Hour Hotline: 1 (800) 621-HOPE

The Office of Domestic Violence (ODV) provides temporary housing, emergency shelter and supportive services for victims of domestic violence and their children. All programs provide a safe environment as well as counseling, advocacy and referral services.

Domestic Violence Shelter
ODV administers the funding for the NYC shelter system. The shelters provide temporary housing and supportive services for victims of domestic violence and their children. All programs provide a safe environment as well as counseling, advocacy and referral services. If you are seeking shelter, please call 1-800-621-HOPE.

Nonresidential Domestic Violence Services
These programs offer counseling, groups, information about domestic violence  referral to specialized services, advocacy in court and for public benefits, as well as community outreach throughout the five boroughs.  View Non-Residential Domestic Hotlines (PDF).

Project NoVA (No Violence Again)
NoVA addresses the needs of domestic violence victims seeking emergency housing from the Department of Homeless Services (DHS).

Domestic Violence Liaison Unit (DVLU)
Domestic Violence Liaisons (DVLs) are located at HRA/DSS job centers to assess safety concerns of cash assistance participants and applicants who identify themselves as domestic violence victims.

ADVENT
ADVENT staff, located at Job Centers, focus on engaging cash assistance participants who are in domestic violence shelter in work or work related activities.

Teen Relationship Abuse Prevention Program (RAPP)
This high school and middle school based program is the most comprehensive domestic violence primary prevention program in New York City, and is critical to ending relationship abuse among young people.

The Alternative to Shelter Program (ATS)
ATS enables domestic violence victims to remain safely in their own homes and communities instead of relocating to a domestic violence shelter. ATS also provides eligible families with a high-tech safety alarm system. Call the ATS hotline at 212-331-4538. If you leave a message someone will return your call.

Shelter Literacy Program
Improves the literacy skills of both parents and children and engages them in a positive education experience that reaches beyond the shelter.
