Free and low-cost public health insurance is available to most children in New York City under the age of 19 through the Healthstat initiative. Child Health Plus is a comprehensive health insurance program that covers most of children's health care and dental needs. Family Health Plus (FHP) is a program modeled on Child Health Plus that makes comprehensive health insurance available at no cost to lower-income, uninsured adults who do not have employer-sponsored coverage and are not eligible for Medicaid or Medicare. To obtain forms for enrollment in Child Health Plus or Family Health Plus, call HPD's Healthstat line at (212) 863-7900. You can obtain more information concerning eligibility requirements at the Mayor's Office of Health Insurance Access.
Now you can download public health insurance brochures in various languages.
These brochures describe the available public health insurance programs and eligibility guidelines for all eligible uninsured New Yorkers.
