NY State of Health, The Official    Health Plan Marketplace

The NY State of Health (NYSOH) was launched in October 2013. It is operated by the State of New York and was created under of the Affordable Care Act. Both New York residents and small businesses can apply online for health insurance through the marketplace.

Since January 2014, the marketplace has enrolled hundreds of thousands New Yorkers, mainly children and adults under age 65, into public health insurance - Medicaid and Child Health Plus and private health insurance.

For the private insurance that it offers, the NYSOH contracts with insurance companies to offer health plans to individuals and small businesses.

NYSOH is federally approved to offer federal tax credits to lower health insurance costs to eligible individuals.

Very small businesses may get a two year tax credit if they purchase a plan in this marketplace.
